Levels

There are three levels that can be completed before your 25th birthday. These levels, their time commitments and minimum age commencements are:

  • Bronze – 3 months – 14 y/o the year of commencement
  • Silver – 6 months – 15 y/o the year of commencement
  • Gold – 12 months – 16 y/o the year of commencement

It is recommended that these levels be completed in order. Students can choose to skip a level or 2 if you wish. Please note that if students do, they are required to do an extra 6 months of time on top of the allocated time.

  • Physical Recreation
  • Skills
  • Adventurous Journey (organised by CMC)

Examples for voluntary service at CMC include Catherine’s Cafe, SRC representative, committee member and mentoring younger students.

Paperwork

A parent/guardian will need to sign a physical copy of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – 2025 Consent Form (Queensland) returned to myself before payment is made. When the payment has been processed, students will need to sign up as a ‘new participant’ on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Online Record Book. Please see the attached Online Record Book (ORB) Next Generation Participant Registration Guide.

Payment

Payment is to be made to the college’s finance office. The cost of each level from 2026 are:

  • Bronze: $192.60
  • Silver: $198.32
  • Gold: $203.96

When students have paid, approval and the start dates will be communicated, and students can then begin with their activities. Please note that any activities you complete prior to payment and approval will not count.

Commencement date

The planned commencement date will be Monday, Week 3, Term 1 of 2026 (9/02/2026). If paperwork is in beforehand, commencement can start earlier.

Support

This is a new program to CMC, and an exciting one at that! Support will be provided from multiple staff. There will be a meeting at the beginning of Week 2 (date and time TBA) to discuss the commencement of the award. Following this, once a fortnight, logging sessions will be held at lunch where students can log their hours, ask questions and talk to your award leader (Miss Jaenke) and their peers.
